It's rad that they are finally bringing back this franchise.

The funniest part is that X-Com FPS isn't even out yet.

I played the build they used for Gamescom (I think it was). It was very, very lacking in content, but what I saw was good.

The sad thing is that the FPS will probably end up selling more than this.

That in-game screen looks a bit mental. Hopefully it'll look more like X-COM once more screens come out.

To me it just looks like a prettier XCOM with hexes. Which would make a fucking amazing game.

Firaxis is undeniably streamlining aspects of the game and removing no small amount of micromanagement, but from what I've seen I wouldn't call it "dumbing down" the game so much as getting rid of tedium and uninteresting mechanics. Soldiers still die permanently, fog of war and line of sight are hugely important in combat, and you absolutely can lose the game if you screw up too badly.

Getting rid of "mechanics" worries me. I think that X-Com Enemy Unknown is probably one of the most perfect games in the world when it comes to gameplay mechanics. I hope they mean getting rid of clunkyness of the interface.
