Jerry the cat had not been since shortly after his owners relocated from Staffordshire to Polperro in Cornwall.
They had given up hope of ever finding him until he was spotted on a local hotel webcam, sleeping on the doormat.
Jerry's owner Abbi Rendell told BBC News: "She [the computer user] had been watching the cat and noticed that he looked a bit homeless and lost."

She added: "She put the two stories together and contacted me last week."
Jerry was spotted on the Claremont Hotel webcam, which is featured on the Polperro web forum.
The hotel's owner Bill Smith said: "When we're asleep, people in different time zones, like in Indiana, are looking on the website.
