HES NOT THE PRESIDENT YET
First you are not an American, and secondly I am one not to be fooled by vague statements. His agenda doesn't really tell me anything he plans to do other than very vague overarching suggestions that as usual for many years tries to tell me exactly what I might want to hear.
Quote: The Agenda
President-Elect Obama and Vice President-Elect Biden have developed innovative approaches to challenge the status quo in Washington and to bring about the kind of change America needs.
The Obama Administration has a comprehensive and detailed agenda to carry out its policies. The principal priorities of the Obama Administration include: a plan to revive the economy, to fix our health care, education, and social security systems, to define a clear path to energy independence, to end the war in Iraq responsibly and finish our mission in Afghanistan, and to work with our allies to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, among many other domestic and foreign policy objectives.
How will he revive the economy? Well I hear recently he plans for more bailouts. To me bailout just sounds like a quick fix to a very serious problem in our economy.
What does responsibly mean in reference to the Iraq war? Is he afraid to answer the question straightly. I really can't perceive what he means by responsibly other than a way to dodge what I expect will happen, which is that we won't be leaving for a while. I mean how can we, when we are building an embassy there bigger than the Vatican, as well as 14 new military bases.
The problem with our Health care is that as usual we as American people have become reliant on the government to run our daily lives. If health care becomes government controlled it will be a sad day for democracy and yet another move towards socialism.
The problem with education is the standardization of it. We try to make our system work for the lowest common denominators. Furthermore our culture increasingly places a low emphasis on education. Most people feel they are getting an education because they have to and not for the desire to be knowledgeable, and so they are learning solely to get the paper that says they spent their 4 years.
I also don't understand the urgency in allowing a small country to have a nuclear weapon. Imagine if Russia invaded Mexico, I think we would be shitting our pants here in America. Why is it impossible to see that Iran feels threatened by our total lack of respect to the sovereignty of other nations in its region. The fact is that a country without nuclear arms has no way to ensure its protection from America.
Furthermore I just don't see how he can fund all these government projects and maintain an already massive government which overspends money that it does not have.
Also if has developed approaches to challenge status quo why can't he even share but one way he intends to challenge this. I am afraid to say it, but I don't really expect much change in this coming 4 years. | |
